The Best of New York in the Fall From Our Laser Surgery Technician

Tom Bartolomeo has been with Stahl for 20 years as practice administrator and the lead technician in the laser surgery area. He’s assisted tens of thousands of patient cases ever since the first day the excimer laser was FDA approved. He loves the team he has put together at Stahl and loves his job. He was born and bred in New York. In fact, his ancestors fought for the Irish and Scottish brigades from New York in the Battle of Gettysburg. He and his wife have been married for 10 years and he is the proud father (and sporting coach) of two great kids.

Fall is here. I’m pretty excited about it since now I don’t have to worry about dying from heat exhaustion on a subway platform.

Things always ramp up here at the office in the Fall, with kids going back to school and everyone returning from vacation. So for all of you out there who are looking forward to experiencing all New York has to offer this season, here are my favorite things to see during the Fall.

Leaves Changing in the Catskill Mountains

If you head up in late-September or early-October, you’re in for an amazing view. For intrepid hikers, the most spectacular view can be found at the top of Twin Mountain, an approximately 6 mile hike round trip. For those who want a bit more relaxing autumn vacation, hang out at Dolan’s Lake. Winter Clove Inn is our favorite place to stay. It’s a great bed and breakfast my family has been visiting since 1918. Either way, you won’t be disappointed by what you see. I’m no leaf peeper, so I can’t say how it compares to other foliage experiences, but I can say it will be worth every effort to get to the Catskills this fall.

Watching the Giants Play

What would fall in New York be without watching the Giants play? Even if you aren’t really into the NFL – you should definitely give the Giants a chance. Try and make it out to MetLife Stadium in the next 6 weeks – it gets pretty cold towards the end of the season and watching a football game (for you non-fans) will be a far greater experience when you’re enjoying the comfortable fall air. There is no more devoted crowd than New York Giant fans. Take my word for it. They know how to have a good time.

Halloween Decorations and Costume Parades

Nobody does Halloween like New Yorkers. People here get so creative with their costumes and decorations. My own children are some of the more creative of the bunch. (They must get it from their mother.) They’ve won trophies for contests 3 years in a row. I can’t wait to see what they come up with next.
