Look Your Best This Season With Blepharoplasty

Looking your best means something different for everyone. For many people, feeling and looking their best is often related to how young they feel and look.

Many women feel like they can achieve a more youthful look through the use of makeup, as well as various cosmetic treatments and surgeries. There are many options for cosmetic procedures that can offer you a more youthful look.

The eyes are a great place to start. When interacting with each other, you spend most of the time looking at the other person’s eyes.

As you age, the skin in that area can become loose and saggy. This can make you look tired or sick, even when you aren’t.

Drooping eyelids or sagging skin around your eyes can be resolved through a procedure called blepharoplasty. Keep reading to learn how you can look your best this season with blepharoplasty!

What is Blepharoplasty?

Blepharoplasty is a procedure designed to remove excess skin and fat around your eyes. Sometimes, if your upper eyelid drooping is severe, it is combined with another procedure called ptosis repair, which tightens the muscles in the eyelid.

The blepharoplasty procedure is short and only uses a few small incisions that are well hidden. As a result, the skin around the eyes becomes tighter, and your eyelids are no longer droopy.

How Does It Work?

There are two types of blepharoplasty: upper eyelid blepharoplasty and lower eyelid blepharoplasty. Many people who feel like their drooping eyelids tend to make them look tired, so for this reason, upper eyelid blepharoplasty is popular.

To begin an upper eyelid blepharoplasty, your eye surgeon will create small incisions in your eyelids. This is done after your eye surgeon has numbed your eyelids.

The incisions are made along the natural fold of the eyelid, so you don’t have to worry about scarring. Through these cuts, your eye doctor can remove fat and skin tissue and shorten the muscle that controls the eyelid.

The process for the lower lid is very similar. The only significant difference is the fact that the lower eyelid does not have a fold.

Instead, the doctor hides the incision underneath the lash line or inside the eyelid. After that, the fat and skin tissue are removed, and the incision is stitched up.

What is Recovery Like For Blepharoplasty?

It can take up to two weeks for most people to recover from blepharoplasty. During that time, you might experience some mild swelling and bruising.

Other than scarring, the bruising and swelling often take the longest to go away. You can help healing move faster by using an ice pack for the first day or so and sleeping with your head raised.

You will need to be very careful as you heal since the skin will be very sensitive. Wear dark UV-protected sunglasses when outside to protect your eyelids.

You should also avoid exercise until your eyes heal.

Will I Benefit From Blepharoplasty?

Many people report that their blepharoplasty made them feel more confident and look younger. If that is important to you, you might be able to benefit from a blepharoplasty as well.

Blepharoplasty is also practical because it can help your vision health. If your eyelids sag too low, they can block your sight.

Before you can schedule a blepharoplasty, you’ll need to talk with your doctor to determine if you are a candidate for the procedure. Discuss your medical history and your expectations to make sure you are on the same page.
