Have you been trying to find ways to keep your eyes healthy? Do you find it difficult to figure out what foods are good or bad for you to eat?

Eating a balanced diet is important for many reasons. A balanced diet can help with digestion, healthy weight, and much more.

Eating a balanced diet is also important if you want to keep your eyes healthy. We try so hard to eat different foods that are good for us, but what foods are best for good eye health? Here are two tips for eating your way to better vision!

Eat Vitamin Rich Foods

One of the keys to good vision is eating a healthy diet. You need to eat foods that are rich in omega-3 fatty acids, vitamin E, vitamin C, and other vitamins. For a balanced diet and healthy diet, incorporate these foods into your meals:

Fish

Fish are a good source of omega-3 fatty acids. You should try to eat fish that have oil in their stomach and body tissue because they are higher in omega-3s.

Try to eat more tuna, trout, salmon, sardines, anchovies, mackerel and herring. It is even possible that eating a diet filled omega-3 rich fish can help cure symptoms of dry eye.

Seeds

Seeds are an excellent source of omega-3s and vitamin E. The best seeds to eat are flax, hemp, and chia seeds. An easy way to get more seeds into your diet is to put them into smoothies.

Dark Leafy Greens

Dark leafy greens are rich in lutein, zeaxanthin, and vitamin C. These are great for eye health.

You should eat kale, collard greens, spinach, broccoli, and brussels sprouts. Not sure how to get enough dark leafy greens into your diet? Try adding side salads with your dinner or lunch.

Nuts and Legumes

Nuts and legumes are high in omega-3 fatty acids. They are a good source of vitamin E. Vitamin E should be in your diet, since it helps prevent age-related diseases.

Eat more peanuts, lentils, walnuts, cashews and Brazil nuts for healthy eyes. Nuts and legumes make great snacks that fill you up without being too calorie-dense as well.

Eggs

Eggs are excellent sources of zeaxanthin and lutein. These nutrients reduce your risk of developing age-related vision loss conditions.

Also, they are an excellent source of zinc, vitamin C, and vitamin E and they are incredibly versatile! Eggs don’t have to be breakfast only food. Try a soft boiled egg with your next ramen dish for a gourmet twist!

Citrus Fruits

Citrus fruits are high in vitamin C. They contain antioxidants and fight age-related conditions. Try to eat more lemons, grapefruits, and oranges.

You can bring fruits like these to work for a quick snack or you can easily add them to your side salad for a splash of color.

Carrots

Carrots are high in Vitamin A and beta carotene. Vitamin A is linked to a protein called rhodopsin, which helps the retina absorb light. This connection helps keep the eyes healthy.

Sweet Potatoes

Not only are sweet potatoes delicious, but they also have beta carotene. They are high in the antioxidant vitamin E and are nature’s candy!

Beef

Beef is high in zinc and tied to good long-term eye health. Eating enough beef helps prevent macular degeneration and vision loss tied to age.

Your retina and tissues contain high levels of zinc. Chicken and pork have zinc too.

Reduce or Remove Unhealthy Foods From Your Diet

Like it is important to eat healthy foods, it is also important to remove unhealthy foods from your diet. This means avoiding foods that are high in salt, sugars or fried.

For example, if you tend to crave sugar, try eating fruits. This way you are eating natural sugar and your body can process it better.

Check what kind of fruit you are eating, as some fruits contain plenty of natural sugars. It’s always better to know what you are putting in your mouth first.
